ProQuest is also really nice if you want to take a look at what they were publishing in the past. It is a database of all sorts of periodicals, I believe dating back to the late 1700's. There is a good variety too, from women's journals to political and
religious publications. It's a little hard to search if you don't have a specific agenda, but it's still interesting to browse. I found the advertisments the most interesting, they have a really nice simplistic quality (out of limitation, no doubt) It's just another visual language to file for later use...mmmm...letterpress...
