Hey guys, I wanted to post this before class, so you can know what I am up to since I do not get there till 2:00...
For articles lined up I currently have:
1. Growing Plants in an Urban environment
I had an older article from last semester from a girl who wrote me an article about tips on growing food in an urban environment. It is really segmented for some reason, into different sections. I am going to edit it, but I think there could be some great imagery involved!
2. Drawing Series and interview with Artist: Lindsay Marx
My roomate Lindsay Marx is becoming a pretty involved artist in Milwaukee. She represents the peck school of the arts in the Student Association as well as one of the founders of Artist alliance, an artist group on campus. She did a semester long large scale drawing series that I would love to do some what of a photography essay on.
3. Comic book: By Rollin Kunz, whatever topic we want
I also have another roomate who left UWM 2 years ago, and he was a pretty well known illustrator on campus, he one a couple big time scholarships for his work. He would love to contribute with a comic book, that can be about whatever we want. A topic that really ads to the rest of the content in the magazine.
One thing I really want to do with with issue is have one large idea broken down into image, spreads, and articles = making it impossible to be uncohesive, it needs to have a good rhythm! I think on Thursday we should all present a design brief of out article ideas and look at all the design briefs together in a group. Then sort through which ones are working with the others and which ones are not. This way right from the start we all have one idea or goal that we are trying to achieve.
* * * Also, I did not take very good notes from Liz Trapp, but I do have a lot from memory that I can write down. We should really have what we learned that day from that day, because it was a lot. If someone else took really good notes, I urge them to get them up here! !
